Trust Based Relationship Intervention (TBRI)®

TBRI® is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® uses:

  • Empowering Principles to address physical needs
  • Connecting Principles for attachment needs
  • Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors.

While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI® is connection.

TBRI® is especially beneficial for the parents, guardians, and caregivers of children from hard places– those who have experienced traumatic events, high levels of stress, adversity, and early harm. Families formed through adoption, foster care, and guardianship often seek out TBRI® due to its roots in helping children from hard places.

However, TBRI® can be useful anytime parents, guardians, or caregivers want to understand, and respond effectively to, their child’s behavior. If you’re looking to build stronger, more trusting relationships and see your child reach their full potential, TBRI® can provide practical tools and strategies that you can start implementing today.

f you want to help a child reach their potential, if you want to understand your child’s behavior and respond effectively, TBRI® is a fit for you. All children– and really, all people — benefit from nurturing, trusting relationships. Connection is a basic need, shared by every one of us– TBRI® is an evidence-based pathway for creating connection, hope, and renewed relationship.
